Hi!
Remember me?
I apologize for neglecting this newsletter for the last few months. I have a good reason. I swear. You’ll know about it soon and you’ll (hopefully) say, “Okay, I guess that’s a decent reason,” but that still doesn’t put new content in your inbox… content that you’re paying for!
So what do we do about it? I have an idea, and I thought we could give it a try for a few and see what you guys think. I love sending you a newsletter with a big chunk of movies so you can dig in, but putting one of those together takes a fair amount of creative energy. What I’d like to try for a little while is sending you one movie at a time. We’re going to keep going in order, so you’ll be getting everything chronologically, and if this works, you’ll get a steady stream of newsletters as opposed to three a month.
I’ll start in a few days with George Romero’s Knightriders, and we’ll keep going with the rest of the films released on April 10th, and then we’ll just roll on from there. At some point, I’ll be able to jump back to the original format of the newsletter, but until then, I want to send you something, and I definitely still have an itch to work on this project. I enjoy this so much more than I enjoy writing reviews for brand-new movies at this point. There’s something really comforting about a project like this, and I hope this slow-drip approach works for you guys. It feels like something I need while my brain’s occupied with this other thing these days.
Thanks for hanging out while I figured this out. See you back here in a few days with a very, very strange movie by a straight-up indie filmmaking hero.
Are we going to be getting the same number of films per month? It would seem weird to pay the same amount for less content. I get you have another project, and genuinely wish you good luck with it. But at what point should we expect you to get back to giving us the same amount of content per month that we signed up for?
Drew - you know I don't mind at all. You've been busy with many things, and I, for one, can't wait for more. Besides, you have 3 vetoes left to use, so who am I to object?
