A bratty electronics whiz-kid and a retired race car driver try to outrace a high-tech jet so they can escape a fascist future and find their way to Free California.
Martyn Burke’s best-known film he was involved in was the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker comedy Top Secret! They struggled with the script for that film for several years, generating a small mountain of material that had no narrative structure whatsoever. Burke was brought in near the end of the process to take all of the comedy bits and pieces and try to engineer a story out of them, and the entire Z-A-Z team credits him with him figuring out how to turn it into a movie.
