I'm cleaning up the archives for THE LAST '80s NEWSLETTER (YOU'LL EVER NEED) as I prepare to start writing my July 1985 issue, and while I've constantly tinkered with the publishing schedule and format, the mission remains the same. My research has only gotten denser and more detailed, and I've already published over 360,000 words here. That's an insane amount of work you get to read for a very low subscription price, and the archives are obviously going to take you some time to work through if you're just joining the project now.

I'm really proud of what this is turning into, and I think I finally found a publisher who is interested in putting these out as books, with additional material and some fine-tuning. You guys who are reading this as I publish are the ones who are going to make those books possible. I'd never be able to justify this if you weren't here, offering valuable financial support as I put this Sisyphean project together.

Excited to join the community for the journey! I came across your podcast when I was living in and around Burbank for a stretch for work which meant lots of LA time in the car and the pod was keeping me company for most of it - I was so bummed when you went on hiatus only a few weeks after I started listening! It was a terrific resource to discover treasures (and trash) that I’d never gotten a chance to experience.

I saw the note in this thread about signing on as a Founding member before the first newsletter goes out but didn’t see the option when I set up the annual sub. Did I miss it somewhere?

My physical fittness has went down hill ever since the end of the end of the podcast. Sunday evening walks with you guys was a joy of life.

I wish I could tell you the newsletter would get you back on the walks... but hopefully you'll be here anyway!

As soon as you mentioned you were revisiting 80's All Over I was in. It was absolutely my favorite podcast to listen to.

I'm impressed you've located everything for the decade in advance! Some of those early 80's titles are hard to come by!

I was excited to get back to my computer today, and my first task this morning was subscribing. Very excited and looking forward to the ride, Drew.

What a wonderful idea, adored 80's All Over, absolutely on board for the yearly sub. It's offered a 'Founding Member' sub level in addition and I'm not sure what that entails. Is that different to the Yearly Sub?

Immediate access to the Discord server where I'll host some screenings of rare '80s things, chat with you guys about the films, and give you ongoing access to whatever's going on with it.

I'm going to close this level after the first issue goes out. Founding members will always have access to the Discord, while I may open it up on special occasion for everyone else, but not non-stop.

Will we get an email with the access link at some point?

Thanks for this explanation. I originally went for the $55 because I didn't know what "Founding Member" meant, but I just upgraded! That sounds like so much fun!

I hope you'll remind us again, with a link to sign up -- count me in. I didn't start listening to the podcast until you guys had already stopped running! Happy to support the endeavor.

Count me in as a day-one sub tomorrow. I've regretted not financially supporting you and 80s All Over ever since the podcast ended. I won't make the same mistake twice.

Glad you are bringing it back in a new form. I’ve been in cliffhanger stasis circa ‘85 since the podcast ended.

I'm in.

I still go back and listen to the podcast. It was a truly great one.

I was really looking forward to your reviews on things like Top Gun, Last Crusade, Predator and a slew of other great ones.

I'm all in, Drew! 80s All Over was a formative show for me, and it broke my heart to see it go, though I understood how hard it would've been to keep it up. So anything that can continue your hard work and research will totally be fun in its own right. That Plex library looks insane!

Can’t wait. I loved 80s all over. My formative cinema years and it was positively Proustian. So many movies that I’d completely forgotten about. Very geeky but I’d love to hear more about how you’ve sorted your Plex libraries. Mine’s just a mass of… stuff.

I can't wait to sign up, because I truly believe I need more information about Conan the Barbarian and The Beastmaster and Cobra and Black Rain and Superman III and Explorers and Always and The 'Burbs and Big Trouble in Little China and Highlander and and and and all the 80's movies I love with all my heart because I'm the ultimate 80's baby!

I'm excited to post each month so we can open a comments section for those movies, and I hope that over time, as the audience grows, those conversations can just continue on those films and those months. The first few months are already locked and loaded, and I do think it's going to be a more back-and-forth community than the podcast was.
